Up to 600 copies, covers are 250gsm digital. For 600 and more copies covers are litho 300gsm. A fee of $99 an hour applies for colour cover design, if required. Our four-colour prices are so competitive that we no longer offer a two-colour option.

Fliers
We are now providing fliers for all our new books, to help your marketing. They are A4, with a cover illustration, blurb and order form, with black printing on white or coloured paper for $1 each plus postage. We can also produce full colour fliers for $2 each plus postage (single-sided). Orders can be directed to the author and/or to Seaview Press (we can accept credit cards). Fliers are useful marketing tools, for posting or faxing to prospective buyers, pinning on notice boards, handing out to groups and so on.

Estimating pages

Estimating pages: a rough guide is 325 words to an A5 page (in 12-point Times), and 550 words for a B5 page, and add any pages for illustrations and preliminary pages (title, table of contents and so on), and short pages at the end of chapters.

Other possible costs

Other sizes: A4 and custom are available.

Editing: Our rate is $190 for each 10,000 words (on paper) and $360 for each 10,000 words (on disk). There is a minimum fee of $990 ($150 on disk). If we produce the book, we allow a discount of $100 off typesetting. No other discounts apply.

Author's amendments:

If we typeset it: first hour free, then $99 an hour (of course, no charge for typesetting corrections); $99 a page for each page replaced in printer's proofs.

If text supplied by author as .pdf: Initial examination of .pdf free. Any author's corrections to the printer's proof will cost $220 and an amended .pdf must be supplied.

Scanning or typing: if your manuscript is not on a computer disk that our computers can read we can scan or type the pages at a cost of $7.70-$9.90 a page.

Illustrations:

$33 each as artwork; $9.90 each as scans (at least 300dpi please)

Black and white: no further cost

Colour pages: 66 cents for each leaf (double-sided) for each book in A5; $1.32 for each leaf (double-sided) for each book in B5

Tables and charts: if complicated, $15 each

Bar codes and ISBN: $88 each

Thicker paper: an additional 0.55 cents an A5 page for 100gsm paper or 1.1 cents a page for larger sizes, for each book

Casebound or hard cover:with blank end papers, gold foil lettering to cover and spine, from an additional $66 for each book for up to 10 copies; for larger quantities POA

Matte laminate covers:33 cents a book (gloss laminate is standard, included in cost)

Freight: We can obtain a quote for freight for you. As a guide, it costs up to $66 to post an A4 box of books (70 A5 books of 80 pages) within Australia. Couriers to capital cities are usually cheaper.

Sample books: are available
